How to judge plumbing work

Most plumbing emergencies are the visible end of a slow problem: a supply line that has been weeping behind drywall, a water heater whose anode rod gave up years ago, or a drain line that has been narrowing with scale. The value of a good plumber is largely in catching the slow version before it becomes the loud one.

Water pressure, pipe material and water chemistry interact more than most homeowners expect. Hard water shortens fixture life; pressure above roughly 80 psi stresses every joint in a house. Asking what a plumber measures — not just what they replace — is a fair way to judge one.

What customers say

Julian did an outstanding job at our home today. We had a lingering plumbing issue that he quickly diagnosed, clearly explained, and walked us through with a couple of different repair options. Once we decided on the best approach, he fixed the problem in just a matter of minutes. What really stood out, though, was that he took the time to walk through the rest of our home, identify other potential plumbing concerns, and either resolve them on the spot or put together a thoughtful list of recommendations for future service. Julian was friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly skilled—the exact qualities you hope to find in a master plumber. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and are hoping he’ll be our go-to plumber for years to come.

I recently had a repeat clog in Our Shower, In a bathroom which has been a problem now for several years. After a bit of a miscommunication by the office in sending out a technician, late in the day Someone came to snake the washout for this bathroom. After about an hour and a half, the clog was not relieved, And I requested to have the Previous technician, ADaryl Hickson, contacted for information that worked with prior visits. It was decided that the washout was too small, and we were told someone would be back to replace it the next day. Luckily, ADaryl was the technician that Showed up at my house promptly in the morning. He proceeded to float a camera, find the clog, and successfully In the pipe, using the washout that was already attached to the bathroom, relieve the clog. However, a secondary washout was required as our house is very old, And he promptly, professionally, and successfully added this to our Sewer line in the front of the house, a large job that took the rest of the day. At the end of the day, when I came out to inspect it, I did not like the look of the cap that was on, and he immediately offered to come back the next day with a more eye plessing cap in the middle of my grass that would not stand out. Everything was done with a professional manner, pleasant demeanor, and always booties used in the house. As well, he always explained everything to me without talking down or being condescending; Including explaining why the first diagnosis of the washout being too small to my bathroom was not the correct one. He is a rare person these days, who knows his profession, and has an amazingly personable attitude that makes working with him enjoyable. But more importantly, he is an expert in his field of practice of Plumbing.ADaryl Hickson is a gem of an employee at Oscars Plumbing, And will be the only person that will ever work on my house in the future! It is rare to find someone in the same day that, That doesn’t rush off the job, butputs in a long, hard days work, With a smile on their face, and spends time to listen to your concerns as a customer.

Adaryl was our plumber today from Oscar's and he was fantastic! He spent the time and effort required to make sure that the quality of our new disposal was good and that the installation was properly done. Before he left, he made sure there were no leaks and he cleaned up after himself so that it was easy for me to put everything back in its place under the kitchen sink. Oscar's has been our plumber for many years, and Adaryl upholds their high standards, as all of their technicians have done for us in the past.
